Observation

LandSentinel-class observation: vegetation cover and woody structure increased after restoration plantings. BioSentinel observation: woodland-specialist detections remain low relative to the Mulgoa reference; generalists and miners colonised first.

Interpretation

Habitat, as seen from above, is not the same as biological use of habitat. Increased cover is a land observation. Return of life is a biological test that has not yet been met for the specialist assemblage.

Significance

This is the LandSentinel–BioSentinel boundary in one object. Meta Sentinel can treat it as a cross-system pattern: structure recovering, function not yet.

Recommended intervention

Do not treat canopy targets as biological success. Maintain midstorey, fallen timber and olive control as biological, not cosmetic, work.
